Ms. Eisenhower and a number of colleagues founded The Eisenhower Group, Inc. in 1985. Since that time, she has also served as a Distinguished Fellow of the Eisenhower Institute, where she held the positions of both president and chairman. In addition to this work, Ms. Eisenhower’s viewpoint is often sought on important national and international issues. She has testified before the Senate Armed Services and Senate Budget Committees and has also served three terms on the National Academy of Sciences' standing Committee on International Security and Arms Control (CISAC). In addition to working on science and technology issues, she has established expertise has also included complicated political topics. In 2000, a year before September 11, she co-edited a book, "Islam and Central Asia," which carried the prescient subtitle, "An Enduring Legacy or an Evolving Threat?" Her most recent book, "Partners in Space: US-Russian Cooperation after the Cold War" has been published in the United States and in Russia. Ms. Eisenhower has served on many government task forces. She was appointed by the Secretary of Energy to the blue- ribbon Baker-Cutler Commission for evaluating U.S.--funded nuclear non-proliferation programs in Russia. Later the she was again appointed by the Secretary of Energy to sit on the Sununu-Meserve Commission on the future of nuclear energy. After serving two terms on the NASA Advisory Council, Eisenhower was appointed to serve on the International Space Station Management and Cost Evaluation Task Force, which analyzed ISS management and cost overruns. She has also served as an Academic Fellow of the International Peace and Security program of Carnegie Corporation of New York, and is a director of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. She is a board member of the Nuclear Threat Initiative, co-chaired by Senator Sam Nunn and Ted Turner.
